Biography
Jackob G. Hofmann has lived and worked in New York City since 1988. After his graduation from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in 1990, Jackob has been prolific in NYC’s theatre scene as an actor, director, and as a playwright. His direction of Abingdon Theatre’s 2010 production of “Engaging Shaw,” by John Morogiello, was a New York Magazine and NY Times Critic’s Pick.
In 2004 Jackob launched the Aurora Theatre Ensemble. With an emphasis on developing and workshopping new plays, the ensemble continues to be an inspiring force in Manhattan’s theatre community. Serving as the ensemble’s Artistic Director, Jackob has produced and directed numerous productions, readings, and showcases.
Many of Jackob’s original plays have received production in NYC including “Tower of Toys,” a finalist in Samuel French's 2011 OOB Short Play Festival.
Also a writer of non-fiction, Jackob’s essay, “Down The Hall And On Your Left,” was recently published by Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood. Samples of his writing are available on this site.
He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from THE NEW SCHOOL FOR GENERAL STUDIES. |
